Airstreams were originally marketed in the 1930s by Wally Byam, a Los Angeles publisher who devoted much of his time to leading Airstream expeditions around the world. The Airstream’s gleaming aluminum body is considered by many to be a beautiful piece of modern art. Our 2015 Flying Cloud, which we named Cloud 9, was already tricked out with stylish creature comforts that surrounded us with the utmost in tranquility. But in 2018, we gave our rig a major renovation when we reconfigured the lounge to accommodate a combo washer/dryer, installed a porthole window in the bathroom door, and redesigned the bedroom.
