Salt Lake Adventure: Day 7

Day 7 found us attending WGU’s “All Hands” meeting at the Delta Center arena in downtown Salt Lake City. About 1,500 employees gathered for the highly polished, heavily produced event also brought in thousands more employees who gathered at viewing hubs across the country. It was quite a spectacle! Kudos to the production team—they kept the more than two-hour meeting moving with stealth and precision.

Later in the afternoon, we joined Cliff’s team to participate in our first axe-throwing event. Cliff arrived at Social Axe ready to rumble. The Main Event began with a coaching session. We learned how to throw axes safely and practiced techniques. We then split into two teams, each with its own “arena,” and played a series of games, concluding with a bracket style tournament to determine the best thrower. Cliff was the champion of our arena, but took second place to his colleague, RJ, in the final.

Afterwards, eight of Cliff’s co-workers descended on Cloud 9 for drinks and conversation. We didn’t think it was possible to entertain so many inside the rig, but now we know. A great time was had by all.
