We arrived Friday afternoon, grateful for a weekend away from the bustle of our weekday routines. After our Date Night supper, we eased into the quiet with a campfire before collapsing into bed, happily exhausted.
Saturday unfolded exactly the way we love: a slow morning with The New York Times, a bit of Ancestry sleuthing, and then an entire rainy afternoon tucked into Cloud 9 while the world softened around us. By evening, the rain had passed just in time for us to grill lobster tails for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. We ended the night with Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, a film celebrated by critics for its dazzling cinematography, powerful performances, and the way it honors the original while bringing fresh emotional depth. Watching it, we could see why reviewers praised its craftsmanship and called it one of Spielberg’s most vibrant modern works.
Sunday was a wonderfully lazy day: long walks around the camping loop, Bloody Mary’s in mild weather, and an indulgent afternoon nap. As the sun set, Chef Cliff worked his magic, grilling pork chops and serving them with ranch style beans and mac and cheese, before we closed the evening with the season finale of All Creatures Great and Small.
On Monday, Jon worked remotely while Cliff enjoyed the day off. We shared a light Caesar salad for lunch before packing up and cleaning in preparation for the next adventure. By late afternoon, we rolled out under skies that felt delightfully spring‑like—one last gift from a weekend that gave us everything we needed.
